This saying usually relates to those mundane tasks that we regularly procrastinate our way out of, or the things that just feel that bit too big to even start.

This week, it took on a slightly different meaning for me. I had been offered a casual contracting role, very similar to the job I lost 6 months ago. In some ways, it was perfect. I could work remotely most of the time, it was only a few hours a week, and it would give me another creative outlet. Contracts were signed and I was ready to go, only to be told by the practitioner on the morning I was due to start that she had made the difficult decision not to go ahead right now. If I'm being honest, the initial disappointment was quickly replaced with a sense of relief. I know I would have rocked the role, but at what cost? It would have been one more thing to juggle, one more responsibility, one thing out of my control. There was a real worry that it would become the shit I didn't want to do, and the life I wanted would feel further away.

At the same time, I became hyper-focused on implementing ideas I've had simmering in the background. We all go through different seasons, and not all of those seasons are for building, but looking at what I've created for you over the last few days really has me excited and proud. There's still some tech implementation to do to make it seamless for you to access and experience these resources, but I'm so grateful for the reminder that focusing on our own shit so we can help others is where it's at.

Sitting in this car last weekend, watching my baby girl in her wedding dress in the rearview mirror — I genuinely didn't have words. Actually, that's a lie. I had ALL the words, and I'm going to use every single one of them. 😅

There's this strange, beautiful ache that nobody warns you about. Pride so big it almost hurts. Admiration for the woman she's become — strong, loving, intentional. And somewhere underneath all of it, this quiet voice saying "you did that." Not perfectly. Never perfectly. But with everything I had.

Watching your first child step into her own life — her own home, her own marriage — it reshapes something fundamental in you. Who AM I now that she doesn't need me the way she once did? The answer, I'm learning, is more myself than I've ever been. Motherhood was never meant to keep them. It was meant to launch them. I remember when she was a newborn, I said to my family it didn't feel like she was mine. My Nanna said our kids are never really ours, we just get to care for them until adulthood. How right she was!

And I am so grateful — genuinely, deeply grateful — that building my business the way I have gave me the time to actually be present for all of this. To help her with cleaning, planning, renovations and setting up the guest room in her new home. To sit in dress fittings, to help her choose wedding decor, and guide her through all the new adulting tasks 😂 That time is irreplaceable. No amount of money could buy it back if I'd missed it.

Once the honeymoon is over, and life finds a new flow, I'll help her build her own business so she can be the SAHM she wants to be once she and her husband start a family of their own.

I’ve seen behind the corporate curtain — and I can’t unsee it.

I worked inside a business that began with the most beautiful vision: supporting stressed families, reminding parents to put their own oxygen mask on first.

And then I saw what people rarely talk about.

The crushing responsibility.
The constant financial pressure.
The nervous system cost.
The way stress quietly moves into the body and becomes normal.

I watched my boss’s health decline.
I felt my own.

Every week I wondered if I’d be paid.
Every week I wondered if the doors would still be open.

When the business finally closed, I stayed strong in the moment.

But weeks later, I noticed something unfamiliar.

Calm.

And the strangest part? It felt odd.

Like a frog in boiling water, I hadn’t realised how hot it had become until I was out.

That experience permanently changed how I view work, success, and business.

I no longer believe in building anything that depends on permanent pressure.

This is why I talk about leverage.
Not because I don’t believe in effort — but because I believe in sustainability.

Leverage is an exit strategy.
A way to future-proof your health, your income, and your options.

Because no one can carry that level of stress forever.

And no success is worth losing your nervous system for.

It's soooo easy to default to victim mode, especia

It's soooo easy to default to victim mode, especially when things feel so unjust and out of your control. I lived there for a very long time, especially in the nearly 6 years it took from ending my marriage to reaching a divorce settlement.

I told him I was done about a week before lockdowns started in 2020. For the next 2.5 years, we lived in the same house because I could see no way out after years of living on his income while I homeschooled our girls. A few months after I moved out, that was the start of a 3 year legal battle that even my lawyer didn't live to see the end of. The continuing financial and emotional abuse was relentless.

At a visit to my chiro one day, he suggested a technique to help shift my perspective & energy, and ultimately calm my nervous system.

"Write down 25 ways NOT getting what you want is benefiting you," he said. I thought it was a ridiculous, almost insulting, proposition....but I did it anyway. I didn't even get to 25 when I had my "ah ha!" moment. I got to be in victim mode. I had something and someone else to blame. The irony was, I hated when he acted the same way. I didn't want to be that person!

That one shift, that moment of awareness, that reframe, changed everything. Not instantly, but I found a strength inside, and a knowing that it was time to create a life where I had choices, regardless of circumstances.

That change of mindset changed my reality, and I finally got what I'd waited so long for. I will never change the behaviour of my ex, but I have become unfuckwithable.
